Maysie and Stuart’s Quirky Countryside Wedding

Wow just wow, what more can I say about Maysie and Stuarts Kentish boho wedding. Kids, dogs, drifters, trouser less dad’s, camper vans, a red wedding dress and Nike wedding trainers…the list is endless.

Reducing the list of photo’s down to a reasonable number for this blog was practically impossible, I loved them all and that’s all because Maysie, Stuart and their family had created the most bespoke wedding day I have seen in a while. I love to photograph weddings that are a little quirky and jam packed full of personality.

I had been really looking forward to this wedding for many reasons, but largely because of its location. The church is 50 yards from my house and the reception venue just a 10 minute walk through the fields of Throwley near Faversham. A perfect country wedding just yards from my door for a change. St Michael and All Angels Church in Throlwey was built in the 11th century and it is beautiful. More of you love birds should get married there. Usually you have to live in the parish if you want to marry in a church, but Throwley is such a small place the church allow couples from outside the boundary to get married there, bonus. So don’t hesitate give them a call straight after you have read this blog, and then GIVE ME A CALL!

Anyway, back to the wedding. Relaxed is not the word to describe the Yates family, when I turned up all Maysie’s (seven) brothers were in their shorts either washing cars, playing on the Xbox or waiting for the Formula One race to start. I thought I had come on the wrong day to start with, but this is the exact reason why I love a wedding with personality, and I very much enjoyed the relaxed start to the day and cup of tea I had with Steve, Maysie’s dad, in their sunny garden listening to his stories about when he ran a scrap yard and how they ended up moving to Throwley. There was one person who wasn’t so relaxed mind you and that was Maysie’s mum Kim, who had been up since 5am trying to get the marquee ready for the wedding reception. Mum’s are brilliant aren’t they?

So on to the wedding ceremony (45 minutes late of course). Maysie and Stuart are both deaf, and I had been wondering how the vows were going to be communicated. Of course they had an interpreter, who stayed with us the whole day to interpret the speeches and even interpret the first dance for them…lady in red of course. It was an amazing experience to be part of, and one that I doubt I will come across again.

After the ceremony it was back to the house for a hog roast, dancing and drinks supplied from a bar made out of the stable block. The highlight of the evening though came during the father and daughter dance when Steve decided to drop his jeans whilst waltzing around the marquee, it was the funniest thing I have seen in a very long time.

If you are having a country or boho wedding then please do GIVE ME A SHOUT, and remember to comment, like and share this post all over the wondrous world wide web for me please.
